Can you believe it’s almost Thanksgiving? Of course the day after Thanksgiving is one of the biggest shopping days of the year: Black Friday.
Modern-day treasure hunters can discover a multitude of prizes right here in the Rogers area thanks to growing participation in geocaching. Geocaching is a combination of a treasure hunt and orienteering. You use a GPS device to locate specific treasures called “caches.” Participants follow provided coordinates and other clues to find the treasures. The general etiquette of geocaching says that if you take a cache, you must leave a cache for future seekers to find. I love the whole idea of this hobby because it gets people out in nature and it teaches great directional skills. Plus, it’s just fun!
One of my favorite parts of going on any trip is trying new-to-me restaurants. I love experiencing both chains and local eateries that I don’t have access to close to home. Rather than try to describe the great food selection in Rogers, I thought I’d give my own recommendations for places you must try when enjoying a getaway to Rogers.

People visiting Rogers for business or pleasure won’t have to give up their running routines. In fact, they may discover a renewed joy in the exercise as they experience the beauty and variety that Rogers’ running trails offer.
We all love family trips, and for many, traveling with the family dog makes the trip complete. All of Northwest Arkansas, including Rogers, is increasingly dog-friendly so you have a growing number of options for your trip.
My favorite Christmas movie in the whole world is A Christmas Story, where Ralphie wanted a Daisy Red Ryder air rifle more than anything. Did you know that the company who manufactures that famous air rifle is right here in Rogers, Arkansas? Furthermore, did you know they host an annual national BB gun championship for kids from all over the country that your family can go watch?

Now that summer is finally here, it’s a great time to get away with the family for a few days or even just for a quick overnight trip. I love local adventures and exploring new-to-me places. Whether you live a few hours from Northwest Arkansas, or even right here in Rogers, getting away for a mini “staycation” is fun for the entire family.
