I have two words for you: APPLE. BUTTER. Did you know the world's best apple butter is made right here in Rogers? (Disclosure: purely the opinion of this blogger, but I'm rarely wrong about these things.) There are some really great (and delicious) things made right here in Rogers that I'm willing to bet some of you didn't know about, which is why I'm starting a new series called "Made in Rogers". I had to start with one of my favorite places, House of Webster.
The phrase "If I knew then what I know now..." comes to mind after my first experience at the Rogers Little Theater this past weekend. I'm a little embarrassed it took me so long to attend a show considering how long I have lived in northwest Arkansas. I knew immediately what I had to do so others wouldn't make that same mistake, so here it is... assignment #3 in the 100 Things to Do in Rogers series: go to a production at the Rogers Little Theater. You will thank me later for this fun and affordable date night idea!
Folks, get ready to loosen those belts! Downtown Rogers Restaurant Week is upon us once again. It's the perfect excuse to break out of your usual routine and let someone else do the cooking. During this week-long event, participating local restaurants will feature special fixed-price menus showcasing their favorite dishes. Fifteen (15!!) downtown restaurants are taking part this year offering breakfast, lunch and/or dinner specials. So technically, you wouldn't have to cook for an entire week! That, my friends, makes one great winning recipe!
We all know Rogers is full of some fantastic places to eat, but I'm guessing a lot of you didn't know how many great ones reside in downtown Rogers. Well, now is your chance to explore the flavors of the historic district during Downtown Rogers Restaurant Week April 1-6.
October 4, 2006 is a date that I will never forget, mostly because it was the due date of my first child. While I was counting down the days to meet my first-born, the rest of of Northwest Arkansas was anxiously awaiting the arrival of a much-bigger baby, the Pinnacle Hills Promenade. The city of Rogers welcomed the much-anticipated 980,000 square foot, open-air shopping center that day. Over the past 6 years, we've watched that area grow up, mature and even welcome siblings, not unlike my own life. What a ride it's been for us all!
Rogers, Arkansas...Where Possible Lives. I love that slogan. And for me, I believe it. I have worked, played, shopped and stayed in Rogers. I have fallen in love with the quaint tree-lined streets in downtown, where the entrepreneurial spirit lives on as new shops and restaurants open their doors for business. I have literally run almost every square inch of sidewalk in the city, which despite its huge growth in population remains characteristically small-town. I have shopped ‘til I dropped and also rested my head, but this fast-changing town, in this fast-changing region keeps me coming back for more. It doesn’t matter if you have lived in Northwest Arkansas your entire life, are a new resident or are just visiting, there is still much to explore. Join me as I turn into a tourist in my own town. I want this blog to be a conversation with you about some of the best places to eat, places to shop, ways to relax and fun to be had in Rogers and Northwest Arkansas.
